International media witnessed "regal" Verstappen: "Books will be written about this weekend"

The international media are broadcasting high praise of Max Verstappen's performance during the Grand Prix weekend in Monaco. The Red Bull Racing driver managed to captivate the media on Saturday, and showed the newspapers that he couldn't be stopped by the rain on Sunday either. With this victory, it seems almost inevitable that the Dutchman will claim his third world title. Or at least the newspapers don't see how the other teams can still pose a threat.

La Gazzetta dello Sport concludes Verstappen's weekend with a single word in the headline: "Regal". The Italian newspaper was impressed by the Dutchman's qualifying round, as well as how he managed his race. While many teams were hoping for rain to see how Red Bull would react, Verstappen remained calm even in difficult conditions. "Books and TV series will be written about the pole position Verstappen secured, bouncing between the walls of Monte Carlo. On Sunday, in the rain, Verstappen completed another beautiful chapter of his saga."

With this victory, the two-time world champion now has 39 wins, surpassing Sebastian Vettel's record at Red Bull by one victory. La Gazzetta dello Sport believes that Verstappen doesn't give too much importance to this record and will primarily focus on the championship standings. The driver has managed to leave teammate Sergio Pérez with a deficit of 39 points. "You get the feeling that the title race had already been decided. It's nearly impossible to imagine that Aston Martin, Mercedes and Ferrari could pose a challenge anymore."

"The Ferrari is as stunning as we would like, but there's one problem - it's blue"

Corriere dello Sport focuses on Ferrari's performance in Monaco. The Italian team had hoped to be competitive, but that turned out to be far from the truth. However, Corriere dello Sport has nothing but positive things to say. "The Ferrari is just as stunning as we would like: unbeatable, infallible, and very fast. There is just one problem - the car is blue," which of course refers to the Red Bull racing car. "No one can put pressure on Verstappen, not even on a circuit that doesn't entirely suit the characteristics of the RB19," they conclude.

"Rain only brought out the best in Verstappen"

The Guardian concludes that nothing can stand in the way of Verstappen's third title. The British newspaper observed that the two-time world champion also felt comfortable in the rain, allowing him to extend his lead in the championship battle. "It appears that no one can pose a challenge to Verstappen in his relentless march towards his third Formula 1 championship. The heavy rain in Monaco only brought out the best in the world champion. He once again dominated the streets of Monte Carlo in order to win a race that was spared the usual tiresome procession."
