Marko not happy with the label of one-man team: "How many wins has Hamilton achieved with Mercedes?"

Helmut Marko couldn't be happier with Red Bull Racing's hundredth victory, although he would have liked to celebrate this victory with Dietrich Mateschitz. At the same time, Max Verstappen recorded his 41st victory for the Austrian team. Marko responds vehemently to the question of whether Red Bull builds its team around one driver, as another world champion also claimed a significant portion of the team's wins.

Since its first season in 2005, Red Bull has managed to achieve one hundred Grand Prix wins. The Austrian team never expected to reach this milestone so quickly. "It's truly incredible. When we took over Jaguar, the boss said we should try to win one Grand Prix," Marko says on the F1 Nation podcast. "It saddens me greatly that now he cannot see what we have achieved."

Mateschitz passed away last year during the Grand Prix weekend in the United States. Marko believes that his good friend would have been proud of the Austrian team's performance. "I think he would say that we haven't done anything wrong at all. He would never say that we are the best because he was always very humble. He always found it beautiful and was always proud of what the team did in Formula 1. We all did that with our own philosophy."

Marko's fierce response regarding Red Bull's approach

On Sunday, Verstappen secured his 41st win for Red Bull, while the other world champion, Sebastian Vettel, won 38 times. Marko is therefore asked whether Red Bull builds its team around one driver. "How many victories has Hamilton achieved with Mercedes?" counters the Austrian, who is then confronted with Nico Rosberg's world title. "There was only one year where Nico was really strong. I think Verstappen is just very strong. It says a lot that Checo (Pérez, ed.) has survived for two years."
