World of difference between Spain and Canada for Leclerc: "One of the best Fridays"

Charles Leclerc speaks of one of the best Fridays that Ferrari has experienced this season. The Monegasque driver had a good session during the second free practice, where he ultimately recorded the fifth fastest time. The feeling with his SF-23 on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is particularly encouraging for the 25-year-old.

"In terms of feeling, this was one of our best Fridays," Leclerc tells the official Formula 1 website. "I had a really, really good feeling with the car, so that's positive. Saturday will be a completely new day and honestly I don’t think there’s much that we can bring from today to tomorrow, as it’s going to rain probably. It’s going to be very interesting, but it’s been a positive Friday.”

It's a world of difference compared to Spain, where Leclerc struggled two weeks ago and was even eliminated in Q1. However, Ferrari has not taken any drastic measures to improve the setup and prevent a repeat of that this weekend. "No, we haven't made any significant changes. Of course, we are continuously learning about the package and we are optimizing that now. Everything we've done with the car has been a step in the right direction. That's good."

This time around, Leclerc is also pleased with a specific aspect for which Ferrari usually comes up short. "The long runs were also very good, but it's only Friday. We have to wait and see. It was a positive Friday, now we need to have a good qualifying session in challenging conditions. After that, we have to see what is possible on Sunday," concludes the in-form Ferrari driver.
